Representation

Representation is about the right of the individual to be heard, to have a voice that influences events and societies. In the western world that has grown from the American Declaration of Independence we express this representation as liberal democracy. However, it is not enough to believe that more than six billion people share the same conceptions of reality and how it is structured. There is a world of human cultures with many and different perceptions. In the era of globalisation we should not be blind to the fact that dictated paths of representation cannot succeed, if we are to have global representation then we need to establish our rights within the cultures in which we live. They cannot be imposed from without.
